Internships
Our office offers several internship opportunities in Washington D.C. and Cypress, CA for the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. I encourage students in California to apply, but the position is available to any student who is currently enrolled or recently graduated from college. Students will gain invaluable work experience while learning about the inner workings of the House of Representatives.
If you are a hardworking, dedicated individual who has a desire to help improve the CA-45 community, this internship is for you! Candidates must possess excellent writing and verbal communication skills. In addition, we are seeking highly collaborative team players with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. This role will require you to prioritize multiple tasks at once and efficiently complete projects.
Qualifications: The D.C. internship is available to college and grad students. The Cypress office is open to recently graduated high school students, college, and grad students.
Hours: The internship requires a minimum of 15 hours per week, during the hours of 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Available Internship Sessions for 2024:
- Summer Internship: May-August, APPLICATION OPEN APPLY BY APRIL 1, 2024.
- Fall Internship: September-December.
- Spring Internship: January-May.
Washington, D.C. Legislative Internship
In Washington, intern responsibilities will vary. Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Conducting legislative research
- Assisting with Constituent requests
- Drafting memos
- Assisting with front office duties
- Performing basic administrative tasks
- Attending briefings and hearings
Cypress District Office Internship
In the District office, intern responsibilities will vary. Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Performing basic administrative tasks
- Writing letters
- Sorting mail
- Attending local community meetings and events
- Assisting with constituent casework
- Assisting with Certificates of Congressional Recognition
