Rep. Steel Invites Orange County High School Students to Participate in Annual Congressional Art Competition

Huntington Beach, C.A. – Today Rep. Michelle Steel (R-CA) announced her office is accepting submissions for the Congressional Art Competition. Each Spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent across the nation and in each congressional district. This year’s theme for the 48th Congressional District competition is “Coastal Heroes.Adhering to the theme is not required, however special consideration will be given to pieces that are inspired by this theme. The artwork submitted will be shared digitally on Rep. Steel’s website and will be displayed in-person at a reception in May. Details about that event have not been announced yet.

The district-wide art competition is open to all high school students (grades 9-12) currently living in the 48thCongressional District.You can find district-specific information here. The 1st place winner’s artwork will be shipped to Washington, D.C., where it will remain on display in the Cannon House Office Building’s Capitol Tunnel for one year, alongside the 1st place artwork from every congressional district in the country.  

Artwork must be sent digitally to Nicole.Bublik@mail.house.gov along with the 2021 Student Release Form by May 3rd, 2021
